Metropolis Idea

For my Metropolis project, i have decided my pathway is Graphic Design and the title for my brief will be Advertising New York. For my outcome i came up with the idea of designing a poster in the style of tourist attraction for New York, i was possibly thinking about having one done graphically on Photoshop and a second design that will be painted but i'm going to see how things go..

Guide to New York video

I added this video to the blog, which like the image of New York underneath, can relate to my Metropolis project. It is fairly long but useful video of a narrated guide of New York City. It is also useful as it shows certain main tourist attractions in New York City which i could research into for my project.

New York

This is an image i might use for research/referencing to when starting my Metropolis project. I like the style of the writing above the city, which reminds me of Art Deco and the fact that it shows the New York skyline at night, i think it makes the city stand out more, especially the World Trade Center in this image which i won't use in my final outcome as they ain't part of the skyline anymore.

Moleskin Sketch

This is a sketch i did earlier in my moleskin from an image of the New York skyline i had. I outlined the buildings and filled in the shadowed areas with fineliner to make it stand out.

New York

This is an image i found on Google. It shows a great view of New York at night and from the angle it's been taken, looks really effective. I especially think the way that the colours from the city lights reflect in the water looks beautiful.

Lino Prints..

These are lino prints that i did from last weeks lesson. The top photo shows the lino i used to print, along with a print i did on coloured paper and the bottom on normal blank paper. I think the black ink worked best for my prints as it showed the outline of the buildings more clearly.

Photography Images..

These images show an example of photos i have taken for photography. The top photo is a close up shot of a circuit board and the bottom shows a chosen image of a small city made out of Lego made in this mornings lesson.

Metropolis Monoprint and Acetone Images

The top image shows a monoprint i did for this project which is the outline of a building from an image i used. The rest are Acetone images i made, using images of The World Trade Center
